Amanda Linares Closing Reception

Join MOAD and Miami-based artist Amanda Linares at MDC's Kendall Campus for a Closing Reception celebrating Linares's artist residency.

Throughout the summer, Amanda has created new work, engaged with students, and members of the public at MDC's Kendall Campus art gallery. Hernandez’ practice reveals personal narratives, institutional tensions, and broader ideas about belonging and place.

Influenced by literature and spatial awareness, Amanda’s work incorporates poetic language while exploring narrative and/or spatial elements through the use of reflection, transparency, revelation, found objects, and typographical solutions. Although her work is constantly evolving, it intimately explores a range of universal themes, including identity, displacement, absence, and reconnection. Since receiving her degree, the artist has exhibited at Deering Estate, Frost Art Museum FIU, Orlando Museum of Art, and Oolite Arts, among other venues.

MOAD is proud to offer artists resources, support, and space to create in Miami. This artist residency will also invite the public to step into the studio and observe and interact with the artist at work, promoting conversations about process, multidisciplinary artmaking, and the role of the artist within learning institutions.
