Shawna Moulton is a multidisciplinary artist and art educator based in South Florida. Born in Freeport, Bahamas, and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, she later migrated to the United States.
From an early age, she discovered the magic of art-making, exploring drawing, painting, sculpture, and papermaking as forms of expression. In 2015, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
Moulton’s artistic journey has taken her across the globe, including to the Awagami Factory in Tokushima, Japan, where she studied traditional Japanese papermaking. With several years of experience in museum education, she has worked with institutions such as the Norton Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA), the Young At Art Museum, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum. Her work in these spaces has centered on engaging communities through conversations about art, teaching creative techniques, and developing educational curricula.
As a member of the Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI), Moulton celebrates and uplifts artists from the Caribbean and the broader African Diaspora. Her work is deeply rooted in themes of identity, migration, and heritage, reflecting her lived experience as an immigrant in America while maintaining strong ties to the Caribbean. She believes in the power of storytelling to create a more inclusive world—one where diverse narratives are seen, valued, and represented.
Her artistic practice includes life-size paper-cast figures, intricate illustrations on handmade paper, and watercolor paintings that explore her evolving journey into motherhood. Through her work, Moulton continues to weave personal and collective histories, honoring the resilience and beauty of diasporic experiences.
