Learn how to salsa in a free and fun class for beginners of all ages!
Without a doubt, any time you spend in Miami will involve salsa music, so why not learn how to dance to it?
Join us in the Freedom Tower's Knight Skylight Gallery for MOAD Moves: Salsa Workshop with Michelle Gonzalez de la Cruz.
In this beginner-friendly class, instructor de la Cruz will teach attendees the fundamentals of salsa footwork and timing. Once everyone is comfortable with the basics, the class will then enjoy putting it all together, practicing the moves in a fun and supportive environment.
Perfect for all ages, the class is open to the public and free to attend.
Attendees may park for free at MDC's Parking Lot 1, located on the south side of the Freedom Tower.
Michelle Gonzalez de la Cruz began dancing salsa and bachata in 2019 at the prestigious Majesty in Motion Dance Company in San Diego, California. Through dedication, perseverance, and a genuine love for learning, she progressed from a complete beginner to joining the company's advanced performance team in 2021.
As her experience grew, Michelle joined the staff as an instructor teaching private lessons; beginner- to intermediate-level group classes for both children and adults; as well as co-directing a partner team. Through teaching, Michelle witnessed firsthand the unfailing power of music and dance to connect people from all walks of life. That experience has inspired her mission to make dance more accessible by bringing it beyond the dance studio and into the community, thereby creating opportunities for more people to experience its transformative impact.
Originally from Mexico, Michelle relocated from San Diego to Miami in November 2024 to continue her dance training. Since then, she has immersed herself in training across multiple dance styles, always striving to grow both personally and professionally.
