Tesoros Bilingües
Nos complace anunciar que una de las novedades de nuestro sitio web, Tesoros del Centro Kislak, es totalmente bilingüe en inglés y español. Desde que lanzamos esta sección a principios de mayo del año pasado, sus comentarios nos han ayudado a dar forma a esta inmersión en la Colección Jay I. Kislak de las primeras Américas, Exploración y Navegación (el nombre oficial de la colección de extraordinarios objetos prehispánicos y coloniales que ayudan a ilustrar la historia de nuestro hemisferio). Llevamos dieciocho entradas en la serie, cada una ilustrada con imágenes (a veces múltiples vistas de los objetos) y cada una acompañada de un fascinante texto sobre el significado de la pieza de arte, su historia, técnicas y materiales, escrito por la historiadora de arte Dra. Carol Damian, Curadora del Centro Kislak en el MDC. ¡Y todas las entradas están disponibles en dos idiomas!
Una de las principales funciones de un museo—especialmente de uno que aspira a ser el mejor de Miami—es cuidar sus colecciones y compartirlas con el público. Mientras se renueva la sede del Centro Kislak en la histórica Torre de la Libertad, podemos compartir algunos de sus tesoros digitalmente. También seguimos creando programas públicos para poner de relieve el alcance de la Colección Kislak e informarles de las últimas investigaciones sobre sus cautivadoras historias. Bilingual Treasures
We are very pleased to say that one of the newest features of our website, Treasures from the Kislak Center, is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Since we launched this section in early May of last year, your feedback has helped us shape this dive into the Jay I. Kislak Collection of the Early Americas, Exploration and Navigation (the official name of the collection of extraordinary pre-Hispanic and colonial objects that help illustrate the history of our hemisphere). We are up to eighteen entries in the series, each illustrated with sparkling images (sometimes multiple views of the objects) and each accompanied by a fascinating text about the artwork’s significance, history, techniques, and materials by the art historian Dr. Carol Damian, who is the Curator of the Kislak Center at MDC. And all the entries are available in two languages!
One of the primary functions of a museum—especially one that aims to be the best in Miami—is to care for its collections and share them with the public. While the Kislak Center’s home in the historic Freedom Tower is under renovation, we can share some of its treasures digitally. We are also continuing to create public programs to highlight the scope of the Kislak Collection and tell you about the latest research into their captivating stories. Look forward to Dr. Damian’s online talk on March 13, when she will explore the two colonial-era paintings of archangels that are the subjects of our latest Treasures pages!
